Marching Cubes算法是三维离散数据场中提取等值面的经典算法,之前主要应用于医学图像重建,当前在TSDF等重建场景广泛应用。

算法主要的思想是在三维离散数据场中通过线性插值来逼近等值面,具体如下:三维离散数据场中每个栅格单元作为一个体素,体素的每个顶点都存在对应的标量值。如果体素顶点上的值大于等值面值,则定义该顶点位于等值面之外,标记为“0”;而如果体素顶点上的值小于等值面值,则定义该顶点位于等值面之内,标记为“1”。由于每个体素单元有8个顶点,那么共存在2^8 = 256种情形,下图是Marching Cubes算法的15种基本情形,其他241种情形可以通过这15种基本情形的旋转、映射等方式实现。
1. 顶点编号
第一件事先对立方体的顶点和边编号,如下所示:其中黑色为顶点编号,红色为边的编号。
对于立方体的每个顶点只有两种状态,要么在曲面内部,要么在曲面外部。因此对于8个顶点,我们只需要用8个二进制位就可以表示立方体的状态。我们约定,在表面内部用1表示,表面外部用0表示,第1个顶点位于二进制的最低位,第8个顶点位于二进制的最高位。
对于图1的第一种情况,所有8个顶点全在曲面外部,我们用00000000表示,
第二种情况,按我们的编号,只有第4个顶点在曲面内部,其他全在外部,因此用00000100表示
对于图2右侧的图,只有顶点3位于内部,那么我们用00010000表示

2. 边的编号
除了表示顶点的情况,我们还需要知道,每一种情况对应的相交面位于哪些边。
对于图1的第一种情况,所有8个顶点全在曲面外部,没有相交的边,
第二种情况,按我们的编号,只有第4个顶点在曲面内部,相交的边为4,7,8
对于图2右侧的图,只有顶点3位于内部,相交的边为2,3,11
总共就256中情况,为了简化计算,那么最简单的办法当然是查表,对于256种顶点情况,我们给出256种对应的相交边的情况,如下所示(16进制表示)。
