Dear Experts,

 

I have installed GRID SW for RAC DB.

O.S OEL  5.7

 

At that execution time of root.sh script, i got some warning msg

Please tell me, my grid installation was succeeded or NOT ?

- both root.sh script report "suceeded"

- all resources are online, gsd is offline, that's ok (see MOS 1354803.1)

- "ADVM/ACFS is not supported is a warning", because your OS is not certified for ADVM/ACFS

  ADVM/ACFS is a feature provided by ASM that allows to mount an ASM volume by the OS. This was initially intended to store files that are not stored in an ASM disk group, but has more general purpose as of 12c. It does however not enable you to mount an existing ASM disk group. The feature requires a file system driver that matches your kernel version, similar to ext or xfs. The driver is provided by the Grid Infrastructure installation and may require patch updates to support your kernel. Unless you plan to use this feature, you don't need to worry about it.

• You will find more information in the MOS note I mentioned.

  The function of GSD (10g and above) is to service requests for 9i RAC management clients and therefore when there are no 9i databases present, there is nothing for GSD to do. Consequently, there will be no impact on a RAC cluster if GSD is offline and 9i is not used. If GSD service is not required, it can be temporarily disabled.

   

  In Oracle database version 11.2.0.x GSD is disabled by default and the ora.gsd service will be show as target:offline, status:offline as follows:

  If you discover an 11.2 database with Grid Control 11.1, Grid Control is expecting the service to be running, but its disabled in 11.2.x, so you need to suppress the alerts in Grid Control."

   

  So it's basically there for historical reasons 9i)
